PS: FIFA handed Cristiano Ronaldo a three-match ban for the red card he received against the Republic of Ireland, but in an unusual decision, two of those matches were suspended under a one-year probation, meaning he effectively served only a one-game suspension. As a result, Ronaldo remains fully eligible to play at the start of the 2026 World Cup, with the remaining two games of the ban only set to apply if he commits a similar offence within the next 12 months.
