Dear You.

The album started with 5 stones for Goliath (Africa’s Giant, since we are not mentioning names). The stones all had the message, “If them wan turn Goliath, I be David for life”.

Wizkid has a favorite and has mentioned it. It’s the second track of the album. The song title is FEEL. That speaks volumes already unless Wizzy is bribing Davido for that joint tour.

But thats not likely the case, and personally all the songs Davido featured a female voice in the album are my favorites. From Morravey’s In The Garden where she keeps promising to do something to my status…

“I’ll change your status, yeah
I’ll change your status, yeah
I’ll change your status, yeah
I’ll change your status, yeah
I’ll change your status, yeah
I’ll change your status, yeah
I’ll change your status, yeah
I’ll change your status, yeah”

… her voice just made me want to wish her dream to change my status come to pass quickly. And while at that I am wishing she changes my stuff instead of my status. Davido blends in, and complements the song with his well-delivered lines. The song is a marriage song for me.

Then again in the track titled Unavailable featuring Musa Keys, the song touches all the right chords in my body.

There’s Kante featuring FAVE. When I first heard FAVE in Simi’s last album. I knew she was an asset. That eastern babe sings like she is a product of a pregnancy hatched by a three-way intercourse of Temz, Patoranking, and General Pype.

Angelique Kidjo then featured Davido with Cavemen on a track! I love Cavemen, I love the Kidjo I heard on this song. Even Davido is not the usual Davido in the song. Davido blends. The song is a masterpiece. You don’t believe me? Listen. The subject of the song is money. The song is a proper African song. Highlife and that thing Kidjo does with her songs. Cavemen means magic.

Davido featured other Magicians like Focalistic, Asake, and co. But that doesnt mean the songs he did alone like Godfather and Away are not winning. Davido won with this song. It’s a good outing, even though we all agreed that whatever Davido gave us for an album after his downtime was going to be patronized regardless.

Yet I dare say these songs did great. I will put some of them on replay. Yes, we wish he did one or two songs that make us feel the same feelings Falz The Bahd Guy made us feel with Mr. Yakubu. But as far as Davido is concerned God already did well for him with his uncle being the Governor of Osun state. And he represented that on the album:

“We go dey shock dem like high tension
Who know say Uncle Demola go become governor
You know say God dey my back, every time I come through”

Ladies and gentlemen, once again, permit me to tell you all that Davido has great songs in Timeless. Some of the songs are too good you will replay them until they digitally start scratching. And your favorites will keep changing. Like between when I started writing this piece up to this point while listening to the songs, I think I have heard the same thing Wizkid heard in Track 2. But the tracks with Fave, Morravey, Cavemen, and Angelique Kidjo will not stop playing in my head.

It’s a 10/10 for me (yeah, I can’t help it).

PS: And so we have Timeless on our laps (or ears). And if you don’t like the song. I know the problem and I can genuinely help you. So first I will do just that.

1. You won’t enjoy this song with a poor audio system. So please go to your friend’s house. The one that has a proper sound system. Connect your Audio Mark via Bluetooth. Or just use a good earpiece on your mobile.

2. If that doesn’t work. Go again and listen. This time purge yourself of all the hate.

3. Okay, it’s possible you are not suffering from 1 and 2. You just need to be patient for the song to grow on you. It will. This is not PR, I am team Wizkid.
