So there’s a new Tonto Dikeh out there. A repented one. This one speaks in tongues. This one is different. This one gives testimonies in church. I like this one. I think you like this one too.

I just wish…

I kind of wish it’s not Streams of Joy Church. Something in me wishes all these were happening in a really local church — a humble place of service.

Streams of Joy Church is far from a humble place of service. Streams of Joy is a tush, air-conditioned place of some good comfort. Another thing is Pastor Jerry Eze is a billionaire pastor.

I wish she was serving under a regular pastor. A man of God that’s not so rich. I know why I am wishing all these. But I won’t say it here. Definitely not now. Cos there’s a pidgin saying that goes thus, “at all at all na im bad.”

At least she confesses Christ now. She is a new creature, with the evidence of forgiveness. This Sunday, she testified about forgiving Churchill. She says she has peace. She says she has destroyed and buried the hatchet between her and the ex-husband.

Hallelujah.

Let’s give this new Tonto a chance. Let’s be happy for her. This sweet Fanta-coloured babe, who is now a mother of a 10-year-old son. She is now a church babe. No more the bad girl she once was.

Ignore all my wishes in the series of paragraphs up here. Let’s have new wishes. Let’s wish that my hunches are wrong. Usually, they are never wrong. Usually, I come back to note it and say this was what I meant when I said this and that.

But…

I really do hope it never comes to this. Tonto Dikeh is a human. Like everyone here on earth, she deserves love. She’s fought her demons and battles. She’s done the public mud swimming. She’s done it all. She has found grace and love in Streams of Joy.

The celebrity pastor, YouTube billionaire, Pastor Jerry Eze, is her pastor. This billionaire pastor is my mother’s pastor too. He is my mum’s morning pastor. But he pastors my mum from afar. Tonto has a closer pastor-daughter relationship. This is also the pastor of Obi Cubana. Yeah, Obi Cubana, the newly appointed Southeast Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.

The City Boy Movement is one of the campaign groups aligned with the interest of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Pastor Jerry Eze is the go-to pastor for the big boys and celebs these days.

So Tonto is just one of such big celebs under the ministry of Pastor Jerry.

I just have hunches. And also have things I can’t say. Cos I really want us to allow this new Tonto enjoy her peace.

And really, I am hoping this peace is for real.
