End of the Road, Super Eagles’ AFCON Dreams Dashed Amid Penalty Heartbreak

1. Now we know why Samuel Chukwueze regardless of his talents. Remains an average off the bench substitute player for a small club like Fulham.
2. He is simply inconsistent. Chukwueze failed to do his own part at the AFCON. He preferred to be the team’s jester. Clowning like Kelechi Iheanacho in the name of fun and vibes.
3. Yes. Chukwueze cost us this ticket to the finals. That penalty kick of his would be the one of the worse kicks in the history of the game. No effort. No seriousness. He was chewing a gum with an attitude carried over from his clowny persona.
4. Eric Chelle has been great. But he doesn’t know how to select his penalty takers. He failed at it against DR Congo in the World Cup playoffs. He also failed at it now.
5. This was a good Super Eagles outing. We were all hopeful they’d lift it. It would have counted for the World Cup miss. As it stands, all that doesnt matter again.
6. We are now back to a reality. We aren’t going to the World Cup. Ghana and South Africa are going to the World Cup. All our hopes now count for nothing. Nobody cares about the heroics unless it ends in winning the trophy. And we didn’t.
7. I won’t join in celebrating a Semi Final fit. We don’t care about the 3rd place. As a matter of fact that nonsense 3rd place should be scrapped. In football nobody remembers or celebrates the team that comes second. How much less the team that came 3rd.
8. Yes, the Morocco team is better than the Super Eagles.
9. I will celebrate Calvin Bassey and Nwabali. As a serious matter of fact, Nwabali is good. Nigerians just like to fault him blindly. Boy is good. It’s disappointing not winning this trophy.
10. I wont watch the 3rd place. I wont write about it. I dont care about it. The Super Eagles failed.
11. The Referee was a disaster.
12. At some point even the Morocco players understood the Referee was their player on a different jersey colour.

PS: What the coach got wrong was bringing Chukwueze at the wrong time. But after seeing him kick that penalty. Can you really blame him? He prolly knows the boy is unserious.
