Dear You,
It’s important to understand this. It’s either they are unknowingly wrong or, at some point in time, they didn’t know better.
Apostle Femi Lazarous scores many goals. However, on the matter of “menstrual pain” and how he illustrated with Esther and Deborah as perfect women who didn’t behave a certain way because they were dealing with menstrual issues — that is not a goal.
In football, the best way to describe that is “over the bar.”
Menstrual pain is not a weakness; it’s biology. It doesn’t reduce a woman’s faith, strength, or virtue. Women who experience discomfort or mood changes during their cycle are not less spiritual or disciplined they’re human.
God designed the female body with intricate processes that deserve understanding, not comparison to biblical figures who lived in entirely different contexts.
It’s important for preachers, no matter how anointed, to approach subjects that concern women with sensitivity and balance. Teaching from compassion, not assumption, is what Christ would do. The pulpit should never become a place that invalidates lived experiences, especially those shaped by nature itself.
Apostle Lazarous has inspired many, and rightly so. But this should be a moment for reflection, not condemnation. Growth also applies to those who lead us spiritually. Learning, unlearning, and re-learning are signs of maturity, not weakness.
So yes, pastors can miss a shot once in a while. The key is for the church to provide feedback in love and truth just as a good team helps its striker get back on target.

PS: Women are not exactly praised enough. Menstrual pains, pregnancies, child caring are enough for us to worship women. Have you been overfed for a night? Imagine the discomfort. Then imagine have a baby in your stomach for 9 months. It bothers me when I think these things through. Women are not celebrated enough. I totally understand how the clergyman’s words could have offended some persons. I take it as imperfection. After all, we are all humans. Subject to learning.
