Meet Trionda: The Smart, Stylish Ball Redefining the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Dear You

Dear You.

2026 WC Ball has been launched.

The ball is fine.

The official 2026 FIFA World Cup match ball has a name.

The ball is christened Trionda.

Yeah.

We will say “pass me the Trionda”.

“Shoot the Trionda”

“Stop holding the Trionda”

Life is about inspirations and creativity.

The designers of Trionda got inspiration from several key themes, all tied to the fact that it will be the first World Cup hosted by three countries (USA, Canada, Mexico) and in many varied climates.

Tri‐national unity !

The name “Trionda” comes from tri (three) and onda (wave), signifying the three host nations and their shared momentum into the tournament.

Symbolism from each country has been incorporated in the ball design.

Stars for the U.S., a maple leaf for Canada, and the eagle for Mexico.

The main colours are red, green, and blue, representing the flags/identities of Canada, Mexico, and the USA respectively.

Gold accents pay tribute to the prestige of the World Cup trophy.

It features a four‑panel construction (a relatively low number of panels), designed for stability in flight and more predictable behaviour.

Deep seams, embossed graphics and textures to help with grip, especially in wet or humid environments.

It includes a motion sensor chip (500 Hz) embedded in one panel to send realtime data for refereeing/VAR purposes.

This connected‑ball technology aims to assist with offside calls, handballs etc.

Yeah.

Football is not longer what it is.

Football has also gone digital.

The design also takes into account the many different host cities (16 in total) with varied climates, altitudes, and environmental conditions; so the ball is tested to perform well across all those conditions.

Football is a big thing.

We are also paying more attention to the ball itself.
