True Wisdom: Honoring Those Who Raised Us
TDear You,
A reporter asked Victor Boniface, “If you are to pick just one person to speak to, who will it be?”
His reply: “My grandma, because she raised me.”
Some people get it right. In today’s social media world, much of what’s called “wisdom” is often just noise. When I hear someone like Victor speak with real sense, I take note and appreciate it.
Victor has made sure his grandma is happy in her remaining days, upgrading her life as it should be. This is the example we should all follow.
When I was at Auchi Poly, a particular woman treated me like a son—I’ve always had that connection with women who genuinely care. Today, I am always happy to help her in any way I can.
Life is about sacrifice today for happiness tomorrow. Many of us had parents who cared for us. Some of us, however, grow up thinking we owe them nothing. That mindset is dangerous.
Regardless of the fact that our parents were just doing their jobs, that doesn’t mean we abandon them when they need us the most. When they’re old, tired, and can no longer rely on their strength, we must be there for them.
Don’t listen to the likes of Daddy Freeze and neglect your elders. Not every parent has the luxury of being self-reliant, so don’t compare.
Do your part. Help your parents, financially and otherwise.
Your Wisdom Spotter,
Ediale
