Whitemoney’s Bold Claim: Fact or Fiction?

Dear Nigerians

Dear You,

Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) reality personality and singer Hazel Oyeze Onou, popularly known as Whitemoney, claims to have 150 people on his payroll. The former BBN champion further stated that he paid them up to five years in advance.

This is either of 2 things:

  1. A show of how stupid one can become after an exposure to wealth, or
  2. A lie.

I think it’s technically number 2. We need the tax guys to confirm this.

Your Lie spotter,
Ediale

PS: Whitemoney’s claim of paying 150 staff members’ salaries five years in advance has raised eyebrows. While it’s impressive to support a large team, this approach may not be the most sustainable or advisable business practice. Paying salaries so far in advance could limit Whitemoney’s ability to manage cash flow, invest in other ventures, or adapt to unforeseen circumstances. It may also impact team dynamics and motivation.

Instead of dismissing Whitemoney’s statement as unrealistic, it’s possible he has implemented a system that ensures stable income for his staff over the next five years. This approach, if sustainable, could be a smart move. However, without further clarification, it’s difficult to assess the feasibility of this strategy.

For context, some companies like Google, Virgin Group, and Patagonia have implemented innovative employee benefits and flexible work arrangements, prioritizing staff well-being and loyalty. Whitemoney’s approach, while unconventional, may have its advantages and disadvantages. Further examination and verification, potentially involving tax authorities, could provide a clearer understanding of his strategy.
